Step 1: Heavy Excavation and Ground Clearing

Before any new material is introduced, the old environment must be entirely eradicated. In a typical Dubai backyard (for example, a townhouse in Dubai Marina or Arabian Ranches), the existing ground is either loose, shifting desert sand, or dead, patchy natural grass full of weeds and roots.

Our teams excavate the entire area to a depth of 7 to 10 centimeters. We meticulously remove all organic matter, dead roots, rocks, and old irrigation pipes. If organic matter is left beneath the new turf, it will decay over time, causing massive sinkholes to appear across your pristine lawn.

Step 2: Installing the Weed Barrier Membrane

Once the ground is excavated and leveled, we roll out a commercial-grade, permeable geotextile weed membrane. This serves two critical functions:

1. It prevents any dormant seeds or tough UAE desert weeds from sprouting and pushing their way up through the drainage holes of the artificial grass.
2. It acts as a stabilization layer, preventing the heavy aggregate sub-base from mixing with the soft desert sand beneath it over time.

Step 3: Engineering the Sub-Base (The Most Important Step)

This is where amateur "gardeners" fail. You cannot lay artificial grass directly on sand. This aggregate is spread evenly across the weed membrane to a depth of roughly 5 to 8 centimeters.

Step 4: Screeding and Laser Leveling

Atop the compacted aggregate base, we apply a thin layer of fine granite dust or sharp sand. Step 5: Rolling, Cutting, and Fitting the Turf

Step 7: Silica Sand Infill and Power Brushing

The final step is arguably what separates a good lawn from a spectacular one. We use a drop-spreader to evenly distribute kiln-dried, washed silica sand across the entire surface of the grass. We never use toxic crumb rubber.

The silica sand falls absolutely out of sight to the bottom of the turf backing. It acts as essential ballast, weighing the grass down so it never wrinkles or shifts in the wind. More importantly, the sand supports the base of the grass yarns, forcing them to stand vertically upright, providing that hyper-realistic, freshly mowed aesthetic.
